Dr. R.J. is a pediatrician, author, and consultant with nearly 25 years of experience. He specializes in trauma-informed care, early relational health, and quality improvement.
Education and Training:
I attended Oregon Health & Sciences University for medical school.
My residency and chief residency were completed at Rush Children’s Hospital.
I earned a Master of Health Professions Education, focusing on curriculum planning and program design.
I completed the Clinical Innovations Fellowship with the Oregon Health Authority.
Additionally, I participated in the Leadership Development Fellowship through Legacy Health Systems.
Career Highlights:
Since 2007, I’ve been training healthcare professionals in screening and referrals for developmental issues, autism, and mood disorders.
I served as the founding director of the Oregon Pediatric Improvement Project, leading statewide quality improvement initiatives.
I’ve advised multiple committees on implementing pediatric medical home principles.
Collaborating with the American Academy of Pediatrics, I contributed to the Medical Home for Children Exposed to Violence Project Advisory Committee.
Research and Impact:
My research focuses on the effects of caregiver Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) on child health and development.
I’m also a co-author of a book on early relational health, offering practical strategies for trauma-informed care.
